Mladostniki so ranljiva in občutljiva skupina, ki potrebuje posebno pozornost.

Title:The effects of do you understand (your)self?!? project workshops on mental health among youth in a juvenile home
Abstract:The mental health of youth is a very important topic for research in the professional field and the general public. In recent years, youth has experienced an increase in mental health problems and more mental disorders are present. Youth are a vulnerable and sensitive group that needs special attention. Crucial for them is to develop interventions for the promotion of mental health. In research we were interested in the mental health of youth in a juvenile home. The main purpose was to raise awareness and educate the youth of the juvenile institution and primary schools regarding mental health, mental health problems, stress, depression and suicidal behaviour, sources of help and healthy lifestyle. Specific goals included identifying changes and effects in mental health indicators: mental well-being, depression, anxiety, suicidal behaviour, risky behaviour (alcohol consumption). We were interested if there were statistically significant differences in the group of the juvenile institution in comparison to the group of primary school. The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the groups according to our hypotheses. This encourage us to interventions for mental health that are important in the entire youth population. We conclude that in the future more resources and time should be devoted to strengthen and improve the mental health of both the youth in juvenile homes as well as in primary schools, and then the entire population.
