Abstract:Murva je že od nekdaj prepoznavna po farmakoloških učinkih in je priznana v kitajski tradicionalni medicini kot protivnetno, antibakterijsko sredstvo in za zdravljenje hiperglikemije.

Title:Anti-Fungal effects of white mulberry leaf extracts
Abstract:The mulberry has long been recognized for its pharmacological effects and is renowned in Chinese traditional medicines as an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial agent and for treatment of hyperglycemia. The purpose of the diploma thesis was to research the inhibitory effects of white mulberry leafs extract on the growth of the Alternaria fungus. In the preliminary experiment we evaluated the effects of water and ethanol extracts with concentrations of 5 %, 10 % and 20 %. The concentration effect was not confirmed, whereas the inhibitory effects on fungal growth were better reflected when water extracts were used. In the second part of the experiment, water extracts of seven different genotypes in the concentration of 37,5 % were used. The genotypes represented the sericultural varieties ‘Morettiana’ and ‘Kokusou’, as well as local white mulberry genotypes from different phytogeographic areas of Slovenia. The inhibitory effect was confirmed for three local genotypes by evaluating the average total eight-day period growth area, that was 1,660; 2,860 and 3,790 cm2, respectively. In contrast, other chosen genotypes represented a total average growth area between 11,250 and 19,840 cm2, whereas the fungal growth on control medium had an average of 17,498 cm2. The ‘Morettiana’ and ‘Kokusou’ varieties showed insufficient inhibitory effects on fungal growth.
