Dolgotrajne so postale opazne šele čez pet in več let.

Title:Consequences of terrorist attack - case study of 9/11
Abstract:September 11th was a terrorist attack in the US that caused not only immediate human and material losses, but also long-lasting political, security, economic, health and social consequences. The security implications are first reflected in the war on terror launched by the US a few days after the attack. The expulsion of all suspected foreigners living in the US increased. The control and security at airports, stations and public buildings have been tightened. Security changes over Americans have also been observed, interfering with their fundamental rights. The economic repercussions were enormous, reflecting the $32 million each hour spent fighting the war on terror. The Al-Qaeda Islamic extremist group claimed the attack at about $450,000 and according to The New York Times, the US is expected to spend $ 3,3 trillion to prevent the consequences and retaliate. The $123 billion have been lost by closing the stock market just for four business days. The price of fuels, oil and gasoline has increased. Immediate health consequences are reflected in fatalities, injuries, burns and respiratory disease (sneezing, coughing, nasal closure). The long-lasting ones became noticeable only after five and plus years. These are: airway, breast and thyroid cancer and migraines. The most common mental illnesses, both immediate and long-term, are post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, agoraphobia, fear of the crowd, etc. Drug and alcohol abuse increased, but suicide declined. We have defined social consequences as the loss of a loved one, a co-worker, loss of job and/or material possessions, and consequently decreased life satisfaction and longevity or increased poverty, belief, fear and distrust.
