Abstract:Namen diplomskega dela je analizirati prometno-informacijski sistem slovenskih avtocest, v smislu neposrednega podajanja informacij uporabnikom, in raziskati morebitne izboljšave. Predstavili smo podjetje Dars d. d., ki je upravitelj slovenskih avtocest, kako poteka upravljanje in vodenje prometa na slovenskih avtocestah iz regionalnih nadzornih centrov, aplikacijo Kažipot, preko katere nadzorniki in operaterji podajajo in prejemajo informacije o dogajanju in stanju na slovenskih državnih cestah ter mobilno aplikacijo DarsPromet+. Analizirali smo obstoječe stanje postavitve prometno-informacijskih portalov.

Title:Analysis of the traffic information system of slovenian motorways
Abstract:The purpose of this thesis is to analyze traffic – information for slovenian motorways in the sense of indirect transfer of infomation to motorway users and to explore possible improvements. We present the company Dars d.d., main manager of Slovenian motorways, the supervision and managing of traffic from regional Traffic control centres, the application Kažipot through which traffic controlers give and receive information about developments and the condition of Slovenian national roads and also the web application DarsTraffic+ We analyze the existing placement of traffic Variable message signs. We did receive infomation about it´s locations from Dars d.d only in coordinates and then with the help of the application Kažipot placed it on to the actual motorways, between actual junctions, between intersections, between tunnels. What we established is that the placement of Variable message sings is appropriate, as far as assuring traffic safety is concerned, but not as efficiant for helping traffic flow because of it´s dispersity. To assure better traffic flow and users to be better informed it would be neccessary to place Variable message sings between all junctions. What concerns motorway users most is how much extra time it might take to reach a certain destination or where to exit the motorway in case of traffic jams, how to avoid those and how to lose as little time as possible, which is what we should be able to offer them. We also mention the understanding of traffic sings and any extra signalization and the culture and habits of the people driving on these roads, what they could themselves do to assure better traffic flow. We also explore these conditions in other places over Europe, current and upcoming technologies, that are still in development. We were informed, that Slovenia is part of an important european project in the specter of traffic – infomation systems, so we can safely say that there is prospect of change.
