Uporabili smo deskriptivno in kvalitativno metodo z izvedbo polstrukturiranih intervjujev. Mladostniki in mladostnice so bolj samostojni v navezovanju stikov, odločanju o pomembnih stvareh, opravljanju vsakodnevnih dejavnosti, odločanju za nove aktivnosti, iznajdljivosti in orientaciji.

Title:The meaning of medical-therapeutic colonies for social inclusion and independence of individuals with cerebral palsy
Abstract:Therapeutic camps for children, teenagers and adults which are organized by various organizations all over the world are one of the forms of social inclusion of handicapped people. Their goals are socialization, the acquisition of experience, and preparation for an independent life in society. In the theoretical part of the master's thesis we specified definition of handicap, researched the models of handicap, checked the problems of social inclusion and exclusion of handicapped people and presented cerebral palsy as a case of handicap. In the empirical part we wonder whether participation in therapeutic camps affects the independence and social inclusion of individuals with cerebral palsy. We use the descriptive and qualitative methods, conducting semi-structured interviews. We conducted the interviews with teenagers with cerebral palsy that are participating in therapeutic camps, with parents whose children are participating in therapeutic camps, and with experts who perform the therapy at therapeutic camps. We find that teenagers, as well as parents and experts, report a positive effect of therapeutic camps on independence and social inclusion of individuals with cerebral palsy. Since beginning to participate in therapeutic camps, the teenagers are more independent in establishing contacts, deciding on important matters, conducting everyday activities, deciding on new experiences, creativity, and orientation. Considering social inclusion, the teenagers have grown more confident, more likely to communicate with strangers, better socialized, and more flexible in interpersonal relationship. Furthermore, they have lost the fear of cohabitation and have gained an interest in social life. In the company of their peers, adolescents are acquiring communication skills and social skills that positively affect their self-esteem. The activities of therapeutic camps serve as a preparation for independent learning, life and work.
