Abstract:Izhodišča, namen: Beseda stres je ena izmed najpogosteje uporabljenih besed v današnjem času.

Title:The presence of stress among health professionals in psychiatry when implementing special protective measures
Abstract:Theoretical baseline and purpose: Stress is one of most often used words in today´s time. Health care professionals are exposed to stress on a daily basis because of nature of the work. In psychiatric hospitals exposure undoubtedly increases during implementation of special protective measures as it interferes with the freedom and integrity of patient. In the thesis we wanted to find out which special protective measures are most stressful, how and when respondents perceive them as the most stressful and how they deal with it. Research methods: In our research we used quantitative method. The research was carried out with an anonymous survey. The respondents participated voluntarily. The research was carried out among employed health care profesionals in one psychiatric hospital in Slovenia. There were 70 respondents. Results: The results showed that the surveyed health care professionals experienced greatest stress when implementing restraint. According to the time of implementation of special protective measures, they identify the night shift as the most stressful. Accelerated heart rate was noted as the most common stress symptom during implementation of restraint. To cope with stress, most respondents use sports and recreation. Discussion and conclusion: Due to the alternating nature of work, the pace and manner of work, health care professionals are exposed to higher stress. Methods of work, however, make psychiatric hospitals more exposed to stress due to interference with individuals´ freedoms and rights, which can lead to exposure of various types of aggresion. Employees should be provided, with adequate support in resolving problems or analysing work events and allowing them to take sufficient rest.
