WorldWide Opportunities on Organic Farms).

Title:WWOOF Canada - analysis of a web platform, it's adaptation to the Slovenian context, and it's possible improvements
Abstract:In the hope of bringing people back closer to nature and offering them the possibility to get to know a different way of life, based on self-sufficiency and a more sustainable way of life, the WWOOF (WorldWide Opportunities on Organic Farms) organisation and its platform were developed. It represents a connection between individuals (volunteers) and organic farms all over the world and strives to increase the awareness of the importance of self-sufficiency and organically grown food. Thus, the master’s thesis first offers a definition of self-sufficiency and organic farming and then introduces WWOOF in detail. In recent years, Slovenia, too, has experienced a growing need for the establishment of an independent WWOOF Slovenia platform. This is the reason why the master’s thesis studies whether it is sensible to use a Common WWOOF platform in Slovenia, which would be based on the WWOOF Canada platform, and find possibilities for improvement. Therefore, in the second part, our main topic is presented in detail, i.e. analysis of the WWOOF Canada platform. Since its successful presentation demands some theoretical knowledge, the third chapter introduces general steps for the planning of web platforms, which are then followed in the analysis itself. The latter was made on the basis of represented theoretical bases, the inspection of three other platforms offering similar or identical content, and the results of interviews with owners of farms in Slovenia that offer voluntary work through the WWOOF platform. Aided by the chosen sample, which included farms across Slovenia, we were provided with an insight into the issue of the need for the establishment of a separate platform in Slovenia and found some solutions for the improvement of user experience.
