Abstract:	V današnjem času smo priča številnim radikaliziranim dejanjem ter njihovim razsežnim posledicam. Danes sta radikalizacija in terorizem med najbolj perečimi problemi, kar predstavlja tudi težavo pri varnostnih ukrepih in preprečevanju takšne oblike terorja. Pred mednarodnim terorizmom ni varna več nobena država. Danes je tako rekoč vsakdo v nevarnosti, da postane žrtev ugrabitve ali bombnega napada teroristov. Učinkovitost terorizma pa narašča s sodobnim razvojem orožja (visoko eksplozivna sredstva,jedrsko, biološko, kemično orožje), ki omogoča majhnim skupinam ljudi, da povzročijo veliko materialne škode. Kar teroristom dodatno omogoča hitro širjenje strahu, pa je razvoj medijev in informacijske tehnologije. Radikalizacija je zapleten proces, sestavljen iz več faktorjev, kar je tudi razlog, zakaj še vedno nimamo natančne definicije tega pojma. V magistrski nalogi smo pojasnili pojem radikalizacije ter pojme, povezane s radikalizacijo. Prikazali in pojasnili smo tako čustvene kot tudi družbene vzroke za radikalizacijo, ter preučili njene faze. V središče naloge smo postavili medijsko poročanje o radikalizaciji, na osnovi analize novinarskih prispevkov v revijah Mladina in Reporter smo iskali razlike v njunem poročanju o radikalizaciji. Na kratko smo predstavili projekte namenjene preprečevanju radikalizacije. Medijsko poročanje ima namreč pomemben vpliv. Radikalne skupine želijo poudariti svoje težnje in dokazati gledalcem, da je sprememba mogoča. To dosežejo s pomočjo medijev, ki jih privabijo z nasiljem. Mediji velikokrat predstavijo le najbolj spektakularne dogodke, saj medijski prostor deluje po principu iskanja škandalov. Spektakularni dogodki pa v veliki meri zameglijo celotnost zgodbe (Tepina, 2010).

Title:	Media reporting on radicalization and police activity in slovenia
Abstract:	In the modern world, we all continuously bear witness to numerous acts of radicalization and their widespread consequences. These days, terrorism and radicalization are two of the most frightening problems that cause difficulties in implementing security measures and preventing these forms of terror. No country is safe from international terrorism. Today, everyone is in danger of becoming a victim of kidnapping or bomb attacks. However, the effectiveness of terrorism is growing, and at the same time, the development of modern weapons is increasing (explosive devices, nuclear, biological, chemical weapons). All of tihs enables small groups of people to cause enormous material damage. What helps terrorists to spread fear even faster is the development of media and information technology. Radicalization is a complex process consisting of several factors, which makes forming a single, exact definition of this process very difficult. In this master thesis we explain the term radicalization and the concepts related to radicalization. We show both the emotional and social causes for radicalization, and analyzed the phases od the process. The thesis focuses on the reports about radicalization in the media. We explore the differences in reporting by analyzing several articles in the magazines Mladina and Reporter. We briefly explain projects for preventing radicalization. In all of these matters, the media and their reports play a vital role. Radical groups want to emphasize their tendencies and prove to the recipients that changes are possible. They do it by using media, whose attention they attract with violence. Very often the media present only the most spectacular events, as the media landscape flourishes by searching for and reporting on scandals. However, the spectacular often obscures the rest of the story and the events are, therefore, not presented in their entirety (Tepina, 2010).
