Abstract:Pričujoče magistrsko delo temelji na analizi stavbnega razvoja srednjeveške kripte pod cerkvijo sv. Arhitekturna zasnova dveh prostorov kripte, postavljenih pravokotno drug na drugega, v tlorisu tvori obliko črke L. Kripta leži pod sedanjim gotskim prezbiterijem, pod jugovzhodnim delom cerkvene ladje in pod južno kapelo. Srednjeveško kripto sestavljajo: dvoranski prostor s trikonhalno zaključenim prezbiterijem, ozek hodnik in dvoladijski prostor.

Title:Crypt under the Parish Church of St. George in Hoče in the Middle Ages
Abstract:The present master’s thesis is based on the analysis of the architectural development of the medieval crypt under the Church of St. George in Spodnje Hoče. By means of the theoretical part, the church administrative organization of the area is presented. It lies southern from the Drava. The area came under the authority of the Aquileia patriarchy during the delimitation in 811. The delimitation influenced favorably the development of the church organization within the framework of which one of the biggest and the oldest parishes developed in the period between the 11th and the 12th century. The first documentary mentioning of the parish of Hoče is dated in the year 1146. However, its actual appearance had happened a few decades earlier. The architectural construction of two rooms built perpendicularly to each other forms the shape of the letter L. The crypt lies under the present Gothic presbytery, southeastern part of the church nave and under the southern chapel. Medieval crypt is composed of the hall space with three apses which formed presbytery, narrow corridor and part with two naves. The architecture is not supplemented by rich details. It is excelled with its modesty and complicated composition of the ground plan. The crypt without any stonecutter decoration has characteristics of Romanesque architecture, vault construction of cross-groin vault whose groins are completely lost in the direction to the vertex, and the integration of the antique spolia in the construction at statically important positions. Due to its uniqueness, it is difficult to compare the crypt with the examples of the Austrian area. The thesis includes the comparison of the architectural design of the Hoče crypt with the selected examples of crypts from the Austrian area (Amstetten, Gurk, Klagenfurt at the Wörthersee, Ardagger, Göss, and Schlägl). In the process, the similarities and differences are pointed out. The former connect the crypts and the latter place the examples among unique from the perspective of the architecture.
