Abstract:Diplomsko delo obravnava strategije trgovanja z opcijami.

Title:Option trading strategies
Abstract:The thesis deals with option trading strategies. The primary goal of the thesis is to acquaint an individual with different ways of creating profits in the stock market by using options, as well as the risks that come with each strategy. The introductory part explains some basic terms which are essental for an option trader to know and understand their role before he or she starts trading. In the thesis, two types of options, the european as well as the american option, are presented although we use european options in the upcoming cases. We mention the law of large numbers which explains why in option trading a larger number of transactions is recommended. The focus is also on greek letters which play an important part in options trading because they measure the sensitivity of the portfolio to the change in the variables that determine the price of an option. Ignorance of greek letters could lead to a loss for which the reason is unknown to the trader. The thesis describes the most common option trading strategies. These include spreads which involve taking a position in two or more options of the same type (i.e. two or more calls or two or more puts), and covered calls/puts. In the last part combinations, which consist of taking a position in both calls and puts on the same stock, are presented.
