V delu diplomskega projekta izbiramo med petimi alternativami in sicer delnico delniške družbe Cinkarna Celje, delnico Intereuropa, delnico Krka, delnico delniške družbe Luka Koper in delnico Petrol.

Title:The use of multi-criteria methods in selecting the most suitable stock for investment
Abstract:In the diploma project we are dealing with the problem of multi-criteria decision-making in selecting the most suitable stock for investment. More and more people are deciding to invest in stocks, but this investment will not necessarily pay off. It is important to conduct a number of financial analyses and determine the criteria to make it easier for us to choose the most appropriate stock that will meet our expectations. In this diploma project, we assume that the investor is not knowledgeable about investing in stocks and is not familiar with the various financial analyses. They will decide based on the three level-one criteria, i.e. benefits, risk and costs, and the three level-two criteria, i.e. dividend yield, earnings per share and return on capital indicator. With the help of multi-criteria decision-making methods and the Web-HIPRE computer program, we obtain the best choice according to our selected criteria. The main goal of the project is to select the most suitable stock for investment. In addition, multi-criteria decision-making and stocks are also presented in more detail. In the diploma project, the greatest importance is placed on multi-criteria decision-making. Decision-making approaches looking at several criteria simultaneously are of great help to us in finding the right solution to complex problems, based on several, conflicting criteria. It is important to be well familiar with the problem and to define it correctly. There is a lot of computer software available to assist us in solving the problems of multi-criteria decision-making, which is carried out through practical use of the methods. This diploma project focuses on the multi-parameter modeling program known as Web-HIPRE. Investing in stocks is very popular because of the high probability of returns, but at the same time, it is a very risky type of investment and we have no guarantee that it will pay off. In the diploma project we choose between five alternatives, namely the stocks of the following companies: Cinkarna Celje, Intereuropa, Krka, Luka Koper and Petrol. After using the selected methods, we find that the best choice among all the alternatives is investing in a stock of Luka Koper. The values of alternatives, i.e. stocks, change along with the change of weights to the selected criteria, but this does not affect the choice of the best alternative when the changes in weights are minor, as in the given case, which would be made by a competent decision-maker.
