Abstract:Družbeni mediji so postali vir informacij današnje družbe. V ta namen smo pripravili in izvedli raziskovalno študijo s pomočjo spletnega vprašalnika. Dobljene rezultate smo statistično obdelali in analizirali.

Title:Perception of deepfakes among young social media users
Abstract:The social media has become a source of information for today’s society. Even though, their existence contributes to a much faster communication and news’ spread, it is also necessary to be aware of the traps and dangers caused by the spreading of the fake news. The purpose of this diploma thesis was to determine the rate of perception of deepfakes on social media among young people, to acknowledge, whether, there is a connection between the image resolution and detection of deepfakes and to ascertain the level of awareness of deepfakes and their impact on trust in social media news. For this reason, we prepared and conducted a research study, using an online questionnaire. The obtained results were statistically processed and analysed. We discovered that in average 42,27 % of young people detect deepfakes and that there is a strong connection between correct perception of deepfakes and HD videos. We also disclosed that people familiar with deepfakes are more aware of the possibilities and consequences their abuse brings, and that people, who do not trust the news on social media, detect more deepfakes. The results retrieved with the help of this study, can serve for further research on this matter.
