Abstract:Osrednji namen diplomskega dela je bil preveriti proti-mikrobno učinkovitost delovanja izbranih komercialno dostopnih produktov za gospodinjstva.

Title:Checking the Antimicrobial Efficacy of Selected Commercially Available Household Products
Abstract:The objective of this diploma thesis was to test the antimicrobial efficacy of commercially available household products. Two products were tested: a stick that releases chlorine dioxide in low concentrations and an anti-microbial PE-film treated with metal ions. Testing was performed in the premises at the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences i.e. biochemical laboratory, the secretariat, and the toilet. Sticks had been activated in these rooms, and the film had been glued to the handles. The air was tested every day using opened microbiological agar petri dishes. Similarly, sterile sticks were used to take 2 samples from each handle (from the part covered with the film and from the part without it) on a daily basis, which were then applied to the microbiological agar petri dishes. The film was additionally tested using the ISO 22196:2011 method. Efficacy of both anti-microbial products was statistically evaluated. The number of microbes in the air after activation of the anti-microbial stick that released chlorine dioxide did not differ statistically significantly from the microbiological basic level before the experiment. The tested anti-microbial film was effective, as the number of microbes was statistically significantly reduced compared to the control.
