Vodstvu Splošne bolnišnice Brežice svetujemo merjenje in spreminjanje organizacijske kulture, izobraževanje managementa in čim bolj razširjeno uporabo informacijske tehnologije. Pogoj zanjo sta ustrezna organizacijska kultura in nenehno izboljševanje delovanja bolnišnice.

Title:Organizational culture of employees in the General hospital Brežice
Abstract:All processes in organizations take place under the strong influence of organizational culture, so it makes sense that the organizational culture in health organizations is controlled and therefore of the highest possible quality. Because the organizational culture is the product of all employees, the focus should lie with them. A key role in this is played by managers with appropriate qualifications and knowledge. In the theoretical part of the thesis we study the organizational culture, present its levels, characteristics, formation, and various typologies. Furthermore, we present the important role of teamwork, leadership and subcultures in health organizations in connection to the organizational culture, implementation of changes in organizations, and we try to determine if organizational culture contributes to the efficiency and success of a hospital. In the empirical part we present a study, conducted in the Brežice general hospital, with which we tried to assess the existing and desired organizational culture, and if the existing organizational culture supports the introduction of changes. We were interested in the effect individual subcultures and the length of employment have on organizational culture. The study showed that the existing organizational culture type in Brežice general hospital is hierarchy, which does not support the introduction of changes. We also determined that the employees would like the organizational culture type in the future to change to clan. A statistical analysis showed that there are no special statistically characteristic connections between organizational culture and a specific subculture, or between organizational culture and the length of employment. To the management of Brežice general hospital we recommend measuring and modifying of organizational culture, educating the managerial personnel and a wide use of information technology. Because the organizational culture is the product of all employees, we recommend the participation of most, if not all, employees. The concern for the orderliness of the health organization is necessary because it affects the safety of patients and the quality of health services. The prerequisite for it are suitable organizational culture and constant improvement of the hospital’s operations.
