Abstract:Velike korporacije imajo pri doseganju zadanih ciljev ne le ekonomske, konkurenčne prednosti, ki izhajajo iz ekonomij obsega, monopolnih položajev, globalnih omrežij in lastništva nad redkimi viri, ampak tudi prednosti iz naslova državnih subvencij, večje verjetnosti davčnih in regulativnih olajšav in verjetnosti prejema državnih pogodb.

Title:The relationship between economic power and political influence of global corporations
Abstract:In achieving set goals, large corporations do not only have economic, competitive advantages stemming from economies of scale, monopoly positions, the ownership of rare resources and global networks, but also advantages laid down in government subsidies, greater possibilities of tax and regulatory incentives, and the likelihood of receiving government contracts. We established that through the past two decades the market concentration tended to increase in most economic sectors, with a direct impact on entrepreneurial dynamics, the market power of the largest global corporations, and increased income inequality. The economic power generated by the largest corporations directly impacts on the scope of political activities within corporations, with which corporate giants further subordinate the business environment in which they operate. Following Zingales (2017) this concludes a vicious circle in which money is used to gain political power and political power to multiply economic power. Due to increasingly growing influence of global corporations at the international level and in the web sphere itself, it is crucial to maintain an open and competitive environment.
