Abstract:Anton Neffat je širši javnosti manj znan dirigent in ravnatelj mariborske Opere. Svoje življenje je posvetil glasbi v vlogi dirigenta, med drugim tudi kot skladatelj ter poustvarjalec. Najprej dolga leta v ljubljanski Operi, kasneje tudi v mariborski. Po vojni, ko v Mariboru ni bilo opernega ustvarjanja, je Anton Neffat odigral pomembno vlogo, saj je na novo organiziral Opero, ki so jo ljudje po vojni še kako potrebovali. Magistrsko delo najprej predstavi njegovo življenje, nato nas seznani z njegovim skladateljskim opusom. Osrednji del opisuje Antona Neffata kot dirigenta v različnih ustanovah in njegov doprinos k umetnosti v slovenskem prostoru. V nadaljevanju prikazuje razvoj mariborske Opere po vojni in zgodovinski pomen ustanovitve. Oriše vlogo ravnatelja in vpliv umetnosti na razvoj mesta in ljudi v njem. Zadnji del predstavlja primerjavo med delovanjem Antona Neffata v Ljubljani in v Mariboru. Bil je pomembna osebnost pri razvoju kulture in glasbene umetnosti predvsem na mariborskem območju.

Title:The conductor and director of the Maribor Opera Anton Neffat
Abstract:The general public does not know a lot about Anton Neffat, who was the conductor and director of the Opera of the Slovene National Theatre Maribor. He dedicated his life to music as a conductor, as well as composer and reproducer. At first, he worked in the Opera of the Slovene National Theatre Ljubljana for many years and later also in the Opera of the Slovene National Theatre Maribor. After the war, nobody was creating operas in Maribor and Anton Neffat played an important part in reorganizing the Opera, which the people at that time needed very much. This master thesis presents his life and his opus as a composer. The main part describes Anton Neffat as a conductor in various institutions and his contribution to art in Slovenia. Further on, it presents the development of the Opera of the Slovene National Theatre Maribor after the war and the historical importance of its establishment. It describes the role of the conductor and the influence of art on the development of the city and its people. The last part presents the comparison between the activity of Anton Neffat in Ljubljana and in Maribor. He was an influential figure in cultural development and music art in Maribor region.
