Abstract:Diplomsko delo obravnava izrabo lesne biomase za ogrevanje.

Title:Utilization of wood biomass for heating
Abstract:This bachelor thesis explores the use of wood biomass for heating purposes. In order to provide some overarching context, we have first presented alternative types of fuel (more specifically fossil fuels). However, the thesis itself is focused on wood fuels (firewood/logs, wood chips, briquettes, pellets). In the chapter regarding wood fuels, we have described the workings of heating devices that are fuelled by the wood fuels. In continuation, we focus on the problems that are caused by unappropriated burning of wood that negatively affect environment as well as the human health. In addition, we have briefly described modern heating techniques. In the empirical part of the thesis, we have conducted a questionnaire regarding the heating of living spaces on a sample of one hundred households, located in different parts of Slovenia. Two of the main goals were to document what fuels are most commonly used as well as estimation of average heating costs per season. Results of the questionnaire was analysed by methods of descriptive statistics. In addition to the questionnaire we have carried out an interview with an expert from the field. Based on the collected data we have given the answers to the research questions.
