Abstract:	Naselje Rogatec leži ob današnji meji s Hrvaško in je tekom svoje celotne zgodovine predstavljalo pomembno razvojno in umetniško težišče v Obsotelju. Različni dejavniki so skozi časovni kontekst delovali spodbujevalno, spet drugič zaviralno. Zgodovina kraja sega vse do Rimljanov, na prisotnost katerih kažejo arheološke najdbe. Svoj vrh v razvoju kraj doseže v srednjem veku, ko postane pomemben trg. Prvi pisni viri o kraju segajo vse do leta 1130, ko je omenjen pod imenom Purch de Rohacz. Kasneje, v obdobju baroka se njegov strmi vzpon samo še nadaljuje in posledično ima danes naziv »umetniške kolonije«. Josef Ferdinand Fromiller (1693–1760), Janez Valentin Metzinger (1699–1759), Jožef Hofer (1700–1764), Jožef Straub (1712–1756) in Anton Jožef Lerchinger (1720–1787) so imena umetnikov, katerih dela lahko občudujemo v tem majhnem kraju. Baročna zapuščina je obsežna in vidna na vsakem koraku. Skozi celotno zgodovino je domišljijo lokalnega prebivalstva burila tudi bližnja Donačka gora, ki je danes priljubljena izletniška točka številnih pohodnikov. Ponudbo kraja dopolnjuje tudi največji lokalni muzej na prostem v Sloveniji, ki s svojimi delavnicami obuja zgodovino. Vse to je gotovo vplivalo tudi na ljudsko izročilo, ki svoj vpliv kaže tudi na nekaterih ohranjenih spomenikih. S slednjimi je obsoteljski kraj bogat. Vedno bolj se zdi, da kljub spreminjanju v urbanizirano naselje Rogatec ni izgubil svojega konteksta. S silhueto specifične rogaške panorame in prizadevnostjo krajanov se kraj vedno bolj prebuja in bogati. Umetnostnozgodovinska zapuščina pa mu pri tem zgolj koristi.

Title:	Rogatec – art history monuments as the reflection of local history and folk tradition
Abstract:	Rogatec is located along the present border with Croatia and troughout its history it has been important as development and art center in Obsotelje region. Various factors seen through the context of time had an encouraging and alternately, a discouraging influence. The town’s history dates back to the Romans; their presence can be seen by their archaeological remains. The town peaked in Middle Ages when it became an important market town. Its first written sources date back to the year 1130 when it is mentioned under the name Purch de Rohacz. Later, in the Baroque era, its steep climb continued and consequently, at present it is acquiring the title of art colony. Josef Ferdinand Fromiller (1693–1760), Janez Valentin Metzinger (1699–1759), Jožef Hofer (1700–1764), Jožef Straub (1712–1756), Anton Jožef Lerchinger (1720–1787) are the names of the artists the works of whom can be admired in this little town. The Baroque legacy is enormous and can practically be seen at every step. Throughout history, the imagination of the local population has also been stirred by the hill Donačka gora, a popular tourist destination for many hikers today. The town also offers the largest local outdoor museum in Slovenia, reviving history with its workshops. All these influences also affected the folklore the influence of which can also be seen on some preserved monuments. The Obsotelje town has a rich legacy in this regard. It seems increasingly evident that Rogatec has not lost its context despite changing into an urbanized settlement. The town is waking up and enriching itself with the silhouette of its specific Rogatec panorama and the diligence of its inhabitants. Its art history legacy only benefits it.
