Title:Orožja za množično uničenje in okolje : diplomsko delo visokošolskega študijskega programa Varnost in policijsko delo

Abstract:Čeprav so orožja za množično uničenje v večini namenjena ljudem, škodujejo tudi celotnemu okolju. V diplomskem delu zato obravnavamo orožja za množično uničenje in njihov vpliv na okolje. Na okolje, ki nas obdaja, namreč prepogosto pozabimo in se zaradi različnih razlogov, predvsem pohlepnosti in sle po moči ne zavedamo resnih posledic. V diplomskem delu želimo raziskati posledice orožij za množično uničenje na okolje. Da bi jih podrobneje spoznali, najprej predstavljamo pojav in zgodovinski razvoj orožij. Kemijska in biološka orožja so uporabljali že pred Kristusovim rojstvom in tedaj niso imela večjega pomena. Opisujemo izraz »orožja za množično uničenje« in nastanek tega poimenovanja. Zavedanje o posledicah njihove uporabe se pojavi sredi 20. stoletja, zato nastopijo tudi težnje po njegovi prepovedi. V tedanjih raziskavah obravnavajo negativne posledice ne le na tarče napada, ampak tudi na njegove uporabnike ter na okolje. V osrednjem delu naloge podrobno opisujemo problematiko vpliva orožij za množično uničenje na okolje in predstavljamo njegove posledice. Ugotovili smo, da so orožja za množično uničenje zares zelo nevarna tako za človeka kot za okolje, v katerem živi. Jedrska in kemijska orožja lahko uničijo celotno infrastrukturo na uporabljenem območju. Najbolj masivna so jedrska orožja, saj ogrozijo ogromno območje. Jedrska in kemijska orožja prav tako onesnažujejo okolje, ki zato dolgo ni primerno za življenje. Biološka orožja sicer nimajo infrastrukturnih posledic, njihove tarče pa so človek, rastline in živali. Uničujejo pridelke ter oslabijo živalske in rastlinske vrste ter lahko privedejo celo do njihovega izumrtja. Ker ne poznajo meja, se lahko razširijo po celem svetu. Težavne so tudi pogodbe o njihovi prepovedi, saj so površno sestavljene in brez utemeljene podlage. Zato jih je potrebno temeljito pregledati, dopolniti in dodati temeljno podlago in predpise za sankcioniranje morebitnih kršitev.

Title:Weapons of mass destruction and environment
Abstract:Although weapons of mass destruction are usually used towards humans, they effect the whole environment as well as whatever is a part of it. That’s why the title of this thesis is weapons of mass destruction and environment. People tend to forget they are a part of the environment also, as natural as man-made one too and because of their greed, longing for power and other similar reasons they forget the possible consequences. The purpose of the thesis is, to discover the environmental consequences of the weapons of mass destruction. So we can get to know the weapons, we take a ride in a time machine and travel to the early days of first known uses of such weapons. History of course is based on the whole evolution of the weapons, their use and some consequences. Chemical and biological weapons have been used even before Christ, when they weren’t considered much more than basic weapons. Later on we get to know when and how the expression weapons of mass destruction even came to be. In the middle of the 20th century many experts began to realise the consequences of these weapons and even tried to prohibit the use of them. Around that time many studies about how the weapons affected the targeted areas as well as the effects on the environment and even on those using and making the weapons came to be. Studying the history leads to the main issue of the thesis and whit it we discover quite a few consequences that were made by the weapons. We found out that the weapons are really dangerous as much for human beings as for the environment in which one lives. Nuclear and chemical weapons can destroy the whole infrastructure of a certain area where those were used. We get to know that nuclear weapons are definitely the most massive and the region they can destroy is enormous. In regards to this, these weapons also contaminate that area, which makes any kind of life impossible until Earth recovers. With biological weapons there are no infrastructure consequences but its targets are humans as much as plants and animal. Such weapons can destroy the crops, weaken plant and animal species, which can also lead to extinction. The worst part about biological weapons is the fact that they have no boundaries and can travel all around the world. Besides these issues its prohibition contracts pose a problem as well since those are poorly written and lack proper legal standing. Regarding all the consequences the weapons can cause, I’d recommend that the conventions are thoroughly checked, fill in the proper acts and regulations, so if it comes to violations those are properly sanctioned.
