Abstract:Shizofrenija za seboj prinaša bistvene spremembe v življenje obolelega posameznika in v življenja njegove družine.

Title:Experiencing work involvement and family support in people with schizophrenia
Abstract:Schizophrenia brings significant changes in the life of the affected individual, and in the lives of their family. Among other things, schizophrenia has a significant effect on the employment position of the affected individual. The purpose of the thesis is to explore how individuals with schizophrenia experience relationships and support within the family environment. The focus of the thesis was, among other things, on researching the experience of involvement in the work process. The study included 9 individuals with schizophrenia who have been in remission for some time, are active at work, and have regular contact with their families. We conducted 9 in-depth interviews, which we analysed according to the principles of the thematic analysis. Individuals included in the study cite the importance of the support they receive from family members. Family support refers primarily to the encouragement of the affected relative to seek regular and consistent treatment. In addition, the supporting factors are manifested as a willingness to listen and understanding on the part of family members. Participants state that the support of their family members is especially important at the time when they are facing severe symptoms of the disease. Individuals participating in our research also emphasize the importance of their own work activation. The participants state that inclusion in work activities is important primarily from the point of view of their own social integration. They also point out that work inclusion has a positive effect on the course of their treatment and represents an important contribution to their personal development and financial autonomy. With the master's thesis, we want to shed light on the importance of family and work involvement or work activation in the life of an individual with schizophrenia.
