V teoretskem in projektnem delu je analiziran razvoj centralnega predela mesta in obstoječa tipologija večstanovanjskih stavb.

Title:Urban hybrid in the modernist town of Velenje
Abstract:The topic of the thesis tackles the problem of locating a new multi-unit residential building in the city of Velenje, where the central area is protected as cultural heritage. Due to its urban concept from 1957, the city has been given the nickname “The Modern City”. In accordance with the valid decree »Odlok o ureditvenem načrtu za centralne predele mesta Velenje«, all new constructions and renovations must follow the original urban concept of the »City in the Park«. In the theoretical and practical work, we have analyzed the development of the central part of the city and the existing typology of multi-unit residential buildings. On the selected location, a hybrid typology of a multi-unit residential building with a public ground floor has been tested with a conceptual design. The design originates from the context of modern cities and provides flexibility and living comfort in new apartments, yet does not have a negative effect on the quality of life in the existing residential buildings. It also complements the city concept with a marketplace and an arrangement of open public spaces.
