Abstract:UVOD: V zaključnem delu smo predstavili nekatere vidike fizičnih obremenitev negovalnega kadra v domu starostnikov. METODE: V teoretičnem delu naloge smo uporabili deskriptivno metodo dela s pregledom in analizo domače in tuje literature.
Keywords:Zdravstvena nega, ergonomska načela, bolečina v hrbtenici, dvigovanje težkih bremen, poklicne poškodbe.

Title:Ergonomic burdens of the nursing team in institutional care of elderly
Abstract:INTRODUCTION: In the final work, we presented some aspects of physical exertion of nursing staff in a nursing home. We described the types of burdens and their consequences. We presented repetitive movements, incorrect forced postures of nursing team and the problems they cause on the musculoskeletal system, as well as the organization of work in the nursing team. The purpose of the final work was to determine whether staff in the nursing team has negative indicators on health, which are the result of workload. METHODS: In the theoretical part of the final work, we used a descriptive method of work with review and analysis of the literature. In the empirical part of the final work, we presented results of the anonymous questionnaire within the nursing team in a nursing home in Maribor. Questionnaire sample involved seventy-two employees. RESULTS: In our research we focused on ergonomic loads. Our research indicated, that the heaviest physical activity within nursing team is lifting, moving, pushing a load over 5 kg. Second heaviest physical activity is moving the patient from the bed to the wheelchair and the third heaviest physical activity is moving the patient up in the bed. More than the half of respondents felt the back pain for the first time between 3 and 10 years of work. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: non-ergonomic implementation of nursing interventions together with low numbers of the staff can have negative impact on the nursing team such as severe permanent physical damage and damage to the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. As a consequence, can lower quality of life. We recommend to use of all principles of proper lifting, using ergonomic devices and it is also necessary to increase the number of staff.
Keywords:Nursing, ergonomic principles, back pain, lifting heavy loads, occupational injuries.
