Title:Monitoring verbal and non-verbal expression in fantastic binomial storytelling of preschool children, five to six years of age
Abstract:The preschool period is the time of the child's greatest blooming, and it is also a golden time to develop their thinking and discovery of themselves. It is a period of children's flexibility when an adult intervenes in a child's personal space and helps him enhance creativity and deepen into the fantasy world. When entering the world of imagination, the s.c. fantastic binomial, which is a two-word game, helps the child. Children learn the most through communication and interaction with an adult, where listening is a very important factor. The child takes on speaking skills using the listening technique. We have monitored the verbal and non-verbal expression of children over a period of five months. We offered children aged from five to six years the opportunity to get to know the fantastic binomial through storytelling, and practice the use and combination of the images of the fantastic binomials, the use of simple or compound sentences, the literary dialogue language, dialect words, omissions, additions and change of voices in words, slow or fast response, fillers and breaks. We have noticed a range of differences in verbal and non-verbal expression, both during the first and the last checks. Some children have already demonstrated their knowledge in the field of the monitored criteria at the first check, and most have met them by the end of five checks. We have ascertained that, for their optimal development, children need exercises in both verbal and non-verbal expression.
