Abstract:Osnovni namen diplomske naloge je bil ugotoviti splošno psihično stanje vrhunskih zimskih športnikov in njihovo dovzetnost za sindrom izgorelosti. Preučili smo koliko pozornosti vrhunski zimski športniki posvečajo mentalni pripravi, kakšen odnos imajo do dela s športnim psihologom in katere psihološke tehnike najpogosteje uporabljajo.

Title:Burnout syndrome in winter top-level athletes
Abstract:The main purpose of the diploma thesis was to determine the general mental state of winter top-level athletes and their susceptibility to burnout syndrome. It was also examined how much attention they pay to mental preparation, what attitude they have towards working with a sports psychologist, and what psychological techniques they most often use. In the theoretical part, a summary of the factors that are supposed to be key in the development of burnout syndrome was done, professional winter sports were presented, a light on the field of sports psychology was shed and a few words to rehabilitation and prevention of burnout were devoted. The survey included winter top-level athletes of the senior and youth categories who are already competing in international competitions. The necessary data were obtained with the help of survey questionnaires. In the end, the results were processed and supported by theory and the author’s own experience. The findings could be helpful to coaches and other sports workers, as the survey would show them in which area athletes have the most problems and what they need to pay more attention to. Athletes could find some useful information and advice on sports psychology or prevention of excessive stress and burnout.
