Abstract:Permakultura je oblika trajnostnega kmetijstva z individualnim pristopom postavitve in zasaditve. Usvojeno znanje so utrdili s pomočjo pripravljenih učnih listov in pomagal.

Title:Planning and Layout of an Educational Permaculture Garden next to the Janko Glazer Primary School in Ruše
Abstract:Permaculture is a form of sustainable farming with an individual approach to layout and planting. It is not a recipe, but rather a concept designed based on each person’s individuality, their financial capabilities, professional background, cooperation, and recycling of used material. Within the framework of the thesis and at the incentive of the Ruše Municipality, an educational garden was planned and set up together with representatives of the local primary school, featuring the agreed elements which were adequately placed within the available space. A science class workshop was organized in the garden for 6th grade pupils. With the help of certain elements which had been set up (raised and elevated beds, vertical planting, an insect hotel, and a compost pile), certain topics from the curriculum were covered in the workshop (soil, systematics, plant morphology and reproduction, harmful and beneficial organisms, and waste management). In the workshop, pupils actively participated in finalizing the planting and filling up the insect hotel. To further strengthen the acquired knowledge, pupils used work sheets and learning tools which had been prepared in advance. By setting up a garden next to the school and carrying out the workshop, we have demonstrated that the permaculture garden was planned in an adequate and functional manner, is properly planted, and can be used as a learning environment in science class.
