Abstract:Motnje hranjenja so izredno kompleksen pojav, ki ga uvrščamo med resne duševne bolezni in predstavlja velik problem sodobne družbe.
Keywords:Motnje hranjenja, športna aktivnost, rekreacija, energijsko pomanjkanje, samopodoba.

Title:Eating disorders in women who are recreationally engaged in fitness exercise
Abstract:As part of mental illnesses, eating disorders are a very complex occurrence and represent a major problem in the modern society. The purpose of the research conducted as part of the thesis was to explore eating disorders in women engaged in recreational fitness exercise. With the research, we wanted to emphasise the problematic of eating disorder occurrence in exercising women and find causes for their emergence. We also explored the field of self-description and its connection to eating disorders. The research included 37 female subjects visiting the fitness centre. The basic interviewee data were obtained with the help of an anonymous online questionnaire. For examining the level of self-description, the Self-Description Questionnaire for individuals in the late adolescence and adulthood (SDQ III) was used. The research results have shown that there is a connection between eating disorders and recreational fitness training. There are several causes for their occurrence. In the foreground, there are mostly low self-description and mental distress. Based on the acquired research results, we can conclude that it is necessary to emphasise the problematic and the eating disorder occurrence in sports, and to educate a broader population on how to recognise eating disorder characteristics in sick persons even more. At the same time, the top and recreational athletes need to be made aware how important it is to have an appropriate nutrition in sporting activity.
Keywords:Eating disorders, sporting activity, recreation, energetic shortage, self-description.
