Abstract:Uvod: Prekinitveni post je prehranjevalni vzorec rednih dnevnih obdobij omejenega vnosa energije, ki mu sledijo obdobja neomejenega vnosa energije. Metode: V zaključnem delu so uporabljene deskriptivna metoda dela, metoda kompilacije in komparativna metoda.

Title:Comparison of intermittent fasting with caloric restriction diet
Abstract:Introduction: Intermittent fasting is a dietary pattern of regular daily periods of limited energy intake followed by periods of unlimited energy intake. This type of diet has become popular as an alternative weight loss strategy for a caloric restriction diet (daily energy restriction). The purpose of the final work is to determine the impact of intermittent fasting compared to a caloric restriction diet on human health. Methods: In the final work, a descriptive method of work, a compilation method and a comparative method are used. A review of scientific and professional literature was performed using the PRISMA methodology. The literature was searched in five databases (PubMed, EBSCOhost(Medline), Academic search complete, ScienceDirect and COBISS+) with the help of pre-set inclusion and exclusion criteria, based on the research question and keywords. Results: With the analysis of expert literature, we found that the intermittent fasting (energy restriction at least 1 day/week, with a similar average energy restriction for each group) achieved weight loss, body composition and changes in cardiometabolic risk factors, similar to a caloric restriction diet (continuous energy restriction). Discussion and conclusion: Due to similar weight loss in most studies, the amount of weight loss and not the type of diet seems to be the most important factor in the changes. However, our review highlights the lack of standardization of terminology to describe different intermittent fasting regimes, the small number of studies, and the lack of long-term research.
