Abstract:V svoji diplomski nalogi raziskujem temo seksizma v policijski uniformi.

Title:Police sexism
Abstract:The topic of this B.A. thesis is sexism among police officers. The B.A. thesis refers to various Slovenian and foreign articles, online sources, annual reports and results and recommendations from studies based on sexism. Even though the topic is an extensive one, few reliable sources were written about it. The reason lies in the fact that the issue of sexism is a very sensitive topic and although police officers do not want to comment on it is seamlessly integrated into the police work environment. Sexism is a highly topical subject of these past years due to the questions being asked about the extent of the sexism, the reason for it and the economic sector with the highest number of cases related to this issue. When talking about sexism we refer to the discrimination against women in places of work where the issue was present for quite a few years but its existence was denied by people responsible. In the last few years with the society and politics being open to sensitive questions women were finally able to communicate their disapproval of their colleagues’ discriminatory and sexist behaviour. Scientists and researchers have discovered that sexist behaviour and attitude towards women is nothing new in sectors traditionally occupied by men. The issue was finally being addressed and in order to prevent such behaviour laws, legislative acts, statutory instruments and regulations were enacted on the national and European level. Nevertheless, the preventative measures that have been implemented are not sufficient since gender discrimination and sexism is still present in today’s society. Not only that but new forms of discrimination and sexism are constantly evolving as a consequence of human nature and its inclination to exclude or even hurt a weaker person.
