Abstract:V diplomskem delu smo analizirali globalni naftni trg in povezavo z rezervno valuto.

Title:The Curreny and Financial Aspects of the Global Oil Market with Focus on Reserve Currency
Abstract:In the bachelor's thesis we analyzed the global oil market and the connection with the reserve currency. To make it easier to understand, we initially presented the basic concepts that are key to understanding the oil market. We have identified chemical properties that affect oil quality and the difference between drilling and hydraulic fracturing. We have introduced the main types of oil on the market. We analyzed the movement of oil prices through history and the factors that affect the price today. We studied the major players in the oil market OPEC, the United States and China. We have broken down the concept of reserve value and presented the relationship between the dollar and oil. We have clarified the impact of the petrodollar on the American and the world's economy, and why the Chinese strive to establish petroyuan. We found that OPEC had influenced price movements through cartels, and that the United States became energy independent due to technological advances and increasingly cheap extraction from fracking, and consequently strategically moved away from the Middle East. The petrodollar is crucial to American dominance in international finance.
Keywords:crude oil, OPEC, US, China, petrodollar, petroyuan.
