Title:Analysis of a meat processing plant investment - a case study
Abstract:Development of complementary activities has a big impact especially on smaller farms, as they do not practice intensive production and do not survive only with working the farm. Demand for domestic products, which are produced on local farms, grows every year, thus the development of complementary activities is very important. In the thesis, the possibilities of introducing meat processing as a complementary activity on our farm were analyzed. Using the total cost calculation method, the economical parameters (value of production, price of Simmental cattle and Angus cattle meat, net present value, internal rate of return etc.) on the farm were assessed. Feed rations were taken into account for all categories of animals up to slaughter weight. With the help of these, the coverage per fatling was calculated. The calculations were developed considering the current state of Simmental cattle breeding on the farm and the future plan, which includes the breeding of Angus cattle, as well as selling the cattle meat. The results of the analysis showed that investing in meat processing facilities is financially justified. The return on investment was in analyzed for the case of the treatment of constant annual flow, in the fifth year, when interest rate were (r = 3.00%) and NSV = 3.285,03 €.
