Abstract:V pričujoči doktorski disertaciji smo razvili na podatkih utemeljeno vsebinsko teorijo, ki razlaga izkušnjo romanja po poti Camino de Santiago, in jo umestili v kontekst poznomoderne duhovnosti. K študiji smo pristopili s pomočjo metodološkega pristopa utemeljene teorije in v tem okviru kombinirali več metod zbiranja in analiziranja podatkov. Osnovni vir podatkov je predstavljala kvalitativna in kvantitativna analiza vsebine 32 potopisnih pripovedi o lastni izkušnji romanja Camino de Santiago. To metodo smo nadgradili s skupinskim intervjujem in z metodo ankete, v okviru katere smo aplicirali štiri spletne anketne vprašalnike: Anketo 1 – Motivi (N = 228), Anketo 2 – Izredne človekove izkušnje in transformativni učinki (N = 501), Anketo 3 – Spremembe vrednot in samoaktualizacije (N = 500) in Anketo 4 – Življenjske spremembe (N = 630).

Title:The Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage as an Expression of Spirituality in Late Modernity
Abstract:In the present doctoral dissertation, we have developed a data-based content theory that explains the experience of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and places it in the context of late modern spirituality. We proceeded from the thesis, stating that the remarkable increase in the number of pilgrims to the Camino de Santiago, witnessed in the last three decades, is primarily an expression of late modern spirituality and its characteristic individual tendency to self-actualize. We approached the study with a methodological approach of grounded theory and in this context combined several methods of data collection and analysis. The basic source of data was a qualitative and quantitative content analysis of 32 travelogue testimonies about the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, written by pilgrims themselves. We upgraded this method with a group interview and a survey method in which we applied four online survey questionnaires: Survey 1 - Motives (N = 228), Survey 2 - Exceptional Human Experiences and Transformative Aftereffects (N = 501), Survey 3 - Changes in Values and Self-actualization (N = 500) and Survey 4 - Life Changes (N = 630).
Keywords:Late modern society, spirituality, exceptional human experiences, transformative afrereffects, Camino de Santiago.
