Abstract:Leta 2020 smo izvedli poljski poskus uporabe biostimulatorjev na kultivarjih čebule 'Talon F1' in 'Ptujska rdeča'. V rastni sezoni smo dvakrat nanesli biostimulatorja Bombardier® (v BBCH 14 in 18) in Batallon® (v BBCH 40 in 45). Po EPPO-standardu smo ocenjevali delež poškodovane listne površine zaradi gliv in število resarjev na površini lista. Analizirali smo število razvitih listov in merili višino rastlin. Višino pridelka smo analizirali z ločevanjem okuženih čebul od zdravih, tehtanjem in merjenjem premera naključno izbranih čebul. Izračunali smo število čebul na kvadratni meter in povprečno maso čebule. V laboratoriju smo izvedli meritev količine suhe snovi (°Brix). Sklepamo, da se uporaba biostimulatorja obrestuje in pokaže pozitivne učinke. V našem primeru smo z njimi uspeli rešiti skoraj dve tretjini pridelka v posevku čebule, močno poškodovanem zaradi herbicidov.

Title:Effect of Biostimulants on the Growth, Development, Disease and Pests Attack Rate in Onions (Alium cepa L.)
Abstract:In 2020, a field experiment was conducted using biostimulants on the two onion cultivars ‘Talon F1’ and ‘Ptujska rdeča’. During the growing season the biostimulants Bombardier® (in BBCH 14 and 18) and Batallon® (in BBCH 40 and 45) were applied twice. According to the EPPO standard, damaged leaf surface due to fungal disease was estimated and the number of thrips. The number of developed leaves was analysed and the plant height was measured. The yield was analysed by separating infected onions from healthy ones, then weighing and measuring the diameter on randomly selected onions. We calculated the number of onions per square meter and the average weight of onions. The amount of dry matter (°Brix) was measured in the laboratory. A simple economic calculation of the feasibility of using biostimulants was also made. The results showed that in the ‘Talon F1’ hybrid, the healthy yield of 1st class increased from 46.870 kg/ha to 52.583 kg/ha when using biostimulants. In the ‘Ptujska rdeča’ variety, the healthy yield of the 1st class increased from 14.438 kg/ha to 21.265 kg/ha. At the end of the growing season, the use of biostimulants significantly reduced the rate of downy mildew infection in the ‘Talon F1’ hybrid and the rate of brown leaf blight infection significantly decreased in both cultivars. The 2020 growing season had a humid summer, so the research would need to be done in several seasons for more accurate results. Considering the selling prices of onions, the increase in revenue when using biostimulants is much higher than the cost of biostimulants and their application. The results indicate that the use of biostimulants pays off and shows positive effects. In this case, we managed to save almost two thirds of the yield in the onion crop severely damaged by the herbicides.
