Povzroča nelagodje glede lastne podobe in zmanjša kakovost življenja. Metode: V zaključnem delu je bil izveden sistematičen pregled literature po korakih smernic PRISMA. Uporabili smo metodo pregleda, analize in sinteze.

Title:Experiencing one´s self-image after lower limb amputation
Abstract:Introduction: Amputation is the loss of a limb and brings many physical, psychological and social challenges. Amputation of a lower limb changes a person's view of their own body and self-image. It causes discomfort to one's self-image and reduces the quality of life. People may feel disgusted, unhappy with their hair, and experience depression and anxiety. Methods: In this work, a systematic literature review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. We used the method of review, analysis and synthesis. The literature search was performed in databases: PubMed, CINAHL, ScienceDirect and Web of Science, using a search string and inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: Feelings of anger, sadness, shock, disappointment and non-acceptance have been found to occur after lower limb amputation. For patients, amputation means a break from the past, a loss of independence and social embarrassment and helplessness. Many patients also experience phantom pain, and the frequency and intensity of phantom pain deteriorate the individual's physical self-image and emotional state. A prosthesis has a very significant impact on the amputee's self-esteem and self-perception. Discussion and conclusion: Patients face many difficulties after lower limb amputation, from loss of independence and altered body image, loss of self-confidence, and psychological problems to feeling inferior, abandoned and crippled. However, using a prosthesis brings with it many positive effects such as improved self-esteem, greater mobility, a better quality of life and improved psychological well-being.
