Title:Spodbudno domače okolje za učenje in utrjevanje tujega jezika : magistrsko delo

Abstract:Glavni namen magistrskega dela je raziskati v kolikšni meri imajo slovenski osnovnošolci spodbudno in nespodbudno domače okolje za učenje in utrjevanje angleščine kot tujega jezika ter kaj vpliva na samo vključevanje staršev v dotični proces. V teoretičnem delu magistrskega dela smo najprej predstavili pomen in razširjenost angleščine v svetu, nadalje pa smo predstavili vlogo angleščine v slovenskem izobraževalnem prostoru. Predstavili smo tudi značilnosti spodbudnega in nespodbudnega domačega okolja za učenje angleščine kot tujega jezika ter kaj vpliva na njegovo oblikovanje. Teoretični del smo zaključili z navedbo aktivnosti za učenje in utrjevanje angleščine kot tujega jezika. V empiričnem delu magistrskega dela smo s pomočjo spletnega anketnega vprašalnika zbrali potrebne podatke na vzorcu 146 staršev slovenskih osnovnošolcev. Zanimale so nas razlike v odgovorih staršev glede na starost, socialno-ekonomski status, lastno uporabo angleščine pri zaposlitvi in vzgojno-izobraževalno obdobje otroka. Rezultati kažejo, da se starši zavedajo pomena znanja angleščine kot tujega jezika in uvedbe raznolikih učnih aktivnosti v domače okolje. Med starši obstajajo statistično značilne razlike pri lastni usposobljenosti na področju angleškega jezika glede na socialno-ekonomski status in lastno uporabo angleščine. Razlike so pojavijo tudi pri pogostosti in načinih spodbujanja učenja in utrjevanja angleščine v domačem okolju glede na socialno-ekonomski status, lastno uporabo angleščine ter vzgojno-izobraževalno obdobje otroka. Rezultati so pokazali, da se starši strinjajo, da je domače okolje izjemnega pomena za podporo otrokovega učnega procesa angleščine.

Title:A Stimulating Home Environment on Foreign Language Learning and Practicing
Abstract:The main purpose of the master's thesis is to explore to what extent the Slovenian primary school students have a stimulating and unstimulating home environment on learning English as a foreign language and what affects the integration of parents into the process. In the theoretical part of the master’s thesis we first presented the importance and extend of English in the world, further we presented the role of English in Slovenian educational space. We also presented the characteristics of stimulating and unstimulating home environment on learning English as a foreign language and what effects its formation. We concluded the theoretical part by citing the activities for learning and practicing English as a foreign language. In the empirical part of the master’s thesis we collected the necessary data on a sample of 146 Slovenian parents of primary school students using an online survey questionnaire. We were interested in the differences of the parents’ responses according to their age, socio-economic status, own use of English in employment and educational period of a child. The results show that parents are aware of the importance of learning English as a foreign language and introducing diverse learning activities into home environment. There are statistically significant differences in own ability in the field of English language according to socio-economic status and own use of English. There are also differences in the frequency and ways of encouraging learning and practicing English in home environment according to socio-economical status, own use of English and educational period of a child. The results showed that parents agree that home environment has an exceptional importance for supporting child’s learning process of English.
