Abstract:Glavna tema diplomskega dela so odpadki, ki nastajajo zaradi uporabe osebnih zaščitnih sredstev za zaščito pred boleznijo COVID-19, ki jo povzroča virus SARS-CoV-2.

Title:Awareness of protective equipment for COVIS-19 waste effect in Republic Slovenia
Abstract:The main topic of the thesis is the waste generated due to the use of personal protective equipment against COVID-19 disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. In the first part of the thesis, we presented the theoretical foundations, such as: the method of obtaining plastics, their history, types of plastics and the impact of waste plastics on people and the environment. We have focused on plastics because most of the personal protective equipment in use is made of plastics, which, if disposed of incorrectly in nature, pose a risk to human health, animals and environmental pollution. In the following, we presented the protective equipment (protective masks, protective gloves, disinfectants, rapid antigen tests for COVID-19) and the materials it is made of. With the help of a questionnaire, we obtained answers and analyzed the awareness of the impact of waste protective equipment in Slovenia. The analysis showed that the population of the Republic of Slovenia does not remove protective equipment in the correct way after use, despite being aware of the materials they are made of.
