Abstract:Ljudje v naravnem stanju praviloma podnevi delujemo in ponoči spimo.

Title:Light pollution
Abstract:Humans are a species that in its natural state is active both during daytime and night-time. We are also an opportunistic species that has the ability to use both spatial and temporal niches, so that we can exist practically anywhere on Earth, and be active during any part of the day, meaning both day and night. As a species we’re also the most advanced and intelligent, which is shown in the development of technology. Thusly, we developed clothes, began constructing buildings as a shelter from climate changes, and invented artificial lighting, which enabled us to expand our activities into the night-time. As the human population rises, so does rise and advance the technology of artificial lighting. With that, however, come issues as well. Artificial lighting gradually begins to change the natural day-night cycle that has in the past been consistent throughout long geological and evolutionary periods. The phenomenon of light pollution is not unique to Slovenia as a country but is rather a problem that is common to the countries all around the world. The irreversible exposure to artificial light is not problematic for humans only, but for flora and fauna as well. We have studied the term light pollution in legislation regarding light pollution in Slovenia and analysed a comparison of light pollution around the world, more specifically in South Korea and Great Britain. Moreover, we delved into research of causes of light pollution on the environment (flora and fauna) which surrounds us and on people. We found out that light pollution is a substantial problem and a threat to contemporary society and the environment in which we live, and that light pollution is a global problem with which other states deal in similar ways to Slovenia. A big problem is found in the improper installation of streetlamps which with their powerful luminosity light up not only the desired area, but also the sky, thus causing glare and light transitions.
