Abstract:Diplomska naloga predstavlja pomembnost in potek razreševanja raznih kriznih situacij ter interakcijo med pogajalcem in povzročiteljem.

Title:Models used for negotiation in crisis situations and case analysis
Abstract:The paper presents the importance and process of solving different crisis situations, and interaction between the negotiator and the person in crisis. It contains six chosen negotiation models which have been developed after the 80’s. These models present different elements and approaches in regards to the negotiation process, although they do have a common goal – a swift and peaceful resolution of the crisis situation. Each model includes a presentation of their steps, or frames, which are guidelines for the negotiators to follow during the negotiation, and presents details which the negotiators should be made aware of. To achieve this common goal, it is important to develop good communication which influences the development of a good rapport; negotiation without them is impossible. Because of their importance, these two elements are presented at the beginning of this paper. The paper also includes the description of an incident which happened in Alabama in 2013. It is a well-known incident in America, that lasted seven whole days. Although the negotiation wasn’t successful, there is plenty of information about the dialogue, the behavior, and the course of action taken by the negotiators. The red line of this paper includes four hypotheses that were set at the beginning. Through them we wanted to find out the importance of communication, the importance of good rapport, elements in which the negotiation models differentiate from one another, and which elements of these models are noticeable in the Alabama case analysis. The main purpose of this paper was to determine the punctuality of the set hypotheses and present the findings. The final chapter includes the shortcomings that were found during the making of this paper, and ideas about future improvements.
