Title:Police officer motorcyclist and rescue motorcyclist - comparioson of work and on-the-job training
Abstract:Motorbikes used to perform police duties and emergency medical aid greatly helps to achieve a faster response, which is also one of the greatest goals of both services (police and emergency medical aid). This vehicle is extremely welcome in the fleet of both services, but it requires additional skills of driving, which requires qualified employees. Riding a motorcycle also excposes his driver to a greater danger when driving emergency ride. The diploma presents the work of police motorcyclist and the work of paramedic motorcyclist and their on-the-job training. The police have used motorcycles since the beginning of independent Republic of Slovenia, while emergency medical service providers have been using motorbikes in their work for about 20 years. Police motorcyclists are on-the-job trained as part of their units and have prescribed training programs, as the institution (Police) operates at the national (state) level. Paramedic motorcyclists are trained as part of the individual rescue station where they work. The operation of these stations is not unified at the national level. We presented Ljubljana rescue station, which is the largest and busiest in the country, and is therefore the exemplary case for comparison as the most qualified in the country. In both of these services the jobs of motorcyclists are occupied by those employees who have additional experiences, since riding a motorcycle on emergency ride requires specific knowledge and more physical effort. Both of these services are well equipped, they use powerful motorcycles, which must be equipped according to the regulations and its purpose. There are still some shortcomings, especially in protective gear. Neither the police nor the rescue stations provide the built-in airbag vests or jackets for their employees who work on the motorcycles, which is popular today as perhaps one of the most important parts of protective gear for motorcyclists.
