Abstract:Uvod: Zaradi posledic prezgodnjega poroda potrebujejo nedonošenčki stalen nadzor in specializirano oskrbo. To omogoča enota za intenzivno nego in terapijo otrok. Sodobne tehnologije prispevajo k večjemu preživetju nedonošenčkov, vendar so to okolje spremenile v zelo hrupno. Zgodnja izpostavljenost nedonošenčkov zunanjemu okolju predstavlja tveganje za razvoj zdravstvenih težav in nevroloških posledic. Metode: Uporabili smo sistematični pristop dela z metodo pregleda, analize in sinteze znanstvene literature, deskriptivno metodo in metodo kompilacije. Pregled literature smo izvedli po naslednjih mednarodnih podatkovnih bazah: PubMed, ScienceDirect in CINAHL. Analizo in sintezo identificiranih raziskav smo prikazali v obliki tabele.

Title:The impact of noise on the preterm infant in the intensive care unit
Abstract:Introduction: Because of the consequences of premature birth, premature infants need constant supervision and specialized care. This is made possible by the intensive care and therapy unit for children. Modern technologies contribute to higher survival of premature babies, but they have turned this environment into a very noisy one. Early exposure of premature infants to the external environment poses a risk for the development of health problems and neurological consequences. The purpose of the final work was to investigate the negative effects of noise on the health of premature babies. Methods: We used a systematic approach of work with the method of review, analysis and synthesis of scientific literature, descriptive method, and compilation method. We performed a literature review using the following international databases: PubMed, ScienceDirect and CINAHL. We presented the analysis and synthesis of the identified research in the form of a table. Results: Thirteen articles that met the criteria were included in the final analysis. We found that noise causes tachycardia, an increase in blood pressure and a drop in saturation. Sleep disturbances can subsequently occur due to noise-induced sleep disruption. Using earmuffs can be a safe and effective noise reduction measure. Discussion and conclusion: Premature infants react to noise by changing vital functions and interrupting sleep. Behavioral reactions shown by premature infants when exposed to noise are crying and agitation. Further research is needed on the adverse effects of noise on the growth and development of the premature infant.
