Title:Daydreaming of travel as a technique of dealing with the Covid-19 crisis
Abstract:The covid-19 pandemic has spread around the world in a very short time and restricted movement of people. The measures adopted, such as quarantine and restriction of movement, had a strong impact on the mental state of people. People looked for different ways to deal with the fear and uncertainty of the situation. The ability to cope with a certain situation helps to tolerate and minimize stressful situations in life. Stress management techniques can help a person feel better physically and mentally. In the thesis, we researched role of daydreaming about travel as one of the forms of mechanisms for coping with one's stressrelated to the covid-19 pandemic. We first start daydreaming and thinking about each trip, and then we start researching and collecting information about it. During the quarantine, people were confined to their homes for several months, so we researched whether they planned future trips during this period and whether they thought of their past trips. We conducted the research on the basis of three focus groups, with participants who, before the pandemic, went on a long trip at least once a year. We found that most of the participants daydreamed about their potential future trips during the quarantine, and they also reviewed photos and videos from previous trips. Research has shown that people experience daydreaming as something positive and as something that gives them hope. In addition, we checked whether the participants had already travelled to the destinations they had daydreamed about at the beginning of the covid-19 crisis. It turns out that to some extent this was indeed the case, , which confirms that to some extent daydreaming is the first stage of travel.
