Title:Impacts of intergenerational cooperation on senior employees
Abstract:In the work environment we often encounter employees of different generations. Older employees want to stay in organizations, but there are more and more younger employees who want to enter the labor market. For different generations to work synergistically, it is necessary to establish intergenerational cooperation. This kind of cooperation enables the exchange of knowledge, the establishment of empathy at the workplace and directly affects the well-being and health of older employees. A condition for establishing intergenerational cooperation is awareness of its importance and what it can contribute to organization. We formed a questionnaire, consisting of thirteen questions, which related to interpersonal relations between older and younger employees, discrimination in the workplace and the view of intergenerational cooperation. Answers to these questions let us investigate how the transfer of knowledge between generations affects the performance of older employees, whether discrimination at the workplace affects the health and interpersonal relationships of older and younger employees, and whether younger employees respect their elders and are aware that the exchange of knowledge enables them to be more successful at workplace. Through the conducted research, we discovered that older employees feel respected in organizations and are aware that they are an important part of them. Younger employees see older employees as a source of knowledge and are aware that their interpersonal relationship affects the well-being and health of the elderly and directly affects the quality and performance of their work. The inclusion of different generations in interpersonal cooperation has the effect of reducing or eliminating stereotypes and age discrimination when they occur in organizations.
