Title:The use of matchmaking platforms among students
Abstract:In this thesis, we explore the use of a matchmaking platform among students. In the introductory part, we present the users decision-making process and the perception of risk involved in the selection process. We identify how people choose a partner, what factors are important in the choice process and whether there are differences between a woman choosing a partner and a man choosing a partner. We present some of the matchmaking apps available to users and describe how the coronavirus pandemic has affected the apps features and usage. In the empirical part, we find out what proportion of students have already used matchmaking apps, for which reasons and for which reasons the remaining respondents have not used such apps. We want to find out which apps they use, how their use has changed during the covid-19 era, and how they feel about apps. We processed the data with statistical analyses and presented them in the form of tables and graphs. We find that 47% of respondents have already used matchmaking apps, with a higher proportion of male respondents having used a matchmaking app than female respondents. The most common reason for using these apps was the desire to have a serious relationship, while the most common reason for not using them, for those who had not used them before, was the fact that the respondents already had a partner. Among other things, we confirm that the use of matchmaking platforms increased during the covid-19 pandemic, as already discussed in the theoretical part.
