Iskali smo v mednarodnih podatkovnih bazah PubMed, CINAHL, Sage. Uporabili smo deskriptivno metodo in metodo analize in sinteze.

Title:Effect of insulin treatment on body mass in diabetic patients
Abstract:Introduction: Insulin is an anabolic hormone with anti-lipolytic and lipogenic effects as well as effects on protein synthesis. It is therefore common for people with type 2 diabetes who are receiving insulin therapy to gain weight, which can be harmful and put them at risk of cardiovascular and other diseases, as well as mortality. This can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle, health education as well as an individualised and holistic treatment of each patient. Methods: A narrative literature review was conducted. We searched for articles in international databases, namely PubMed, CINAHL, Sage. We used a descriptive method and the method of analysis and synthesis. To analyse the data, we conducted a content analysis. Results: Upon analysing the content of the seven articles, we found that insulin therapy increases body mass based on factors, such as age, insulin therapy duration, pre-insulin body mass gain, diabetes-related distress, insulin type, initial and titrated insulin dose. Discussion and conclusion: Empowering patients to take greater control of their diabetes with a healthier lifestyle and self-management can improve glycaemic control, body mass and reduce the risk of complications. Improving the quality of life, especially through diet, makes patients feel better and has a positive impact on the course of the disease itself.
