Abstract:Prihod Spleta 2.0 in novih aplikacij je v marsičem spremenil način komuniciranja. V analizo smo vključili predsednika stranke SDS Janeza Janšo, predsednika RS Boruta Pahorja, nekdanjega predsednika ZDA Baracka Obamo in trenutnega predsednika ZDA Joeja Bidena.

Title:Twitter in the Web 2.0: political communication
Abstract:The arrival of Web 2.0 and new communication tools has changed the way we communicate in many ways. At first, the web was just a political tool, offering opportunities to inform audiences, but over time it has also begun to be used to communicate or to interact with audiences. Political communication is primarily about the intentions of the senders to influence the political environment. Microblogging services such as Twitter have the potential to increase political participation. Twitter, with its powerful information dissemination mechanism, is an ideal platform for politicians, allowing them to disseminate information and political opinion quickly and easily. In the world of political communication, Obama's victory in the 2008 presidential election represents the triumph of the digital over the analogue. However, there is no doubt that Trump used Twitter to establish new methods of political communication. In this thesis we analyze the political communication of Slovenian and American politicians on Twitter. The analysis includes the President of the SDS party Janez Janša, the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor, the former US President Barack Obama and the current US President Joe Biden. We found out that among all of them, Mr. Janez Janša is the one who uses Twitter most frequently, while Mr. Barack Obama is the one who uses it the least. Mr. Janša in his tweets also usually adds hashtags, mentions, images, links, and videos. Furthermore, Joe Biden is the one who adds videos to his tweets most often among all analyzed politicians. As part of the thesis, we also prepared a questionnaire, which we forwarded to the office of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, and presented his answers. Based on the survey we conducted, we found out that 15% of all respondents in Slovenia follow political content on Twitter, compared to 9% in the US.
