Title:Organization of beverage distribution
Abstract:In the task, we dealt with the organization of the beverage distribution from the Distribution Center of Pivovarna Laško Union in Maribor. We organized the distribution for one area, for customers from the area of Hoče, Slovenska Bistrica, Oplotnica, Tepanje, Poljčane, Majšperk, Pragersko, Lovrenc na Dravskem polju and Kidričevo. The company wants to ensure possible delivery to customers twice a week. Currently, customers are not assigned to any districts, but can order on any day they want. Of course, this is not optimal, as the truck covers significantly too many kilometers per day. For this reason, we researched how to organize the beverage distribution, that it would be optimal. Customers are divided into smaller districts, which are distributed according to the days of the week. Of course, we check whether the order quantities correspond to the capacity of the vehicle. Location data is then entered into the route optimization program, namely PTV map&Guide, which offers us the optimal route based on the customer's location. Then the costs are calculated. In the results, we find that we have some districts that are further away and at the same time have small orders. For this reason, it would make sense to introduce delivery to these customers only once a week, as this saves a lot of costs due to fewer kilometers traveled and fuel used. In the following, we checked whether this improvement really reduces costs and whether it makes sense to introduce it. We found that the improved result can be grat fort he company, as we further reduce the cost of delivery. Because of this, it is possible to implement this improvement to the work.
