Abstract:Diplomsko delo obravnava problematiko zaposlovanja žensk v času nosečnosti in materinstva.

Title:The issue of employing women during pregnancy and motherhood
Abstract:The diploma thesis deals with the issue of employment of women during pregnancy and motherhood. In the theoretical part we discussed the role of women throughout history and the labour market today, we researched how pregnancy and physical changes lead to health problems that can affect the ability to work and researched Slovenian legislation that protects pregnant women and mothers in the labour market. The main objectives were to find out what are the thoughts of pregnant women and mothers on their rights and employment during pregnancy and motherhood, how employers make it easier for pregnant women and mothers to work in the workplace and how employers view the (forthcoming) pregnancy anouncement. We did this through a research using a questionnaire. At the end of the research, we found that a large part of the problem of employment during pregnancy and motherhood stems from ignorance of the law, either by the employer or by (employed) women. This is confirmed by the fact that half of the respondents admit that they do not know the law and that as many as 80 % of respondents believe that women with children or pregnant women have worse conditions in the labour market. Ignorance of the law is also reflected in the fact that the employer as a severe (financial) burden, which of course is not true if both actors (employee and employer, superior) perform their duties (fo example, the employer must be prepared for women's maternity leave). Relationships between employees and superiors in the workplace and throughout the organization are also crucial. Poor relationships can bring a lot of extra stress to a pregnant women.
