Izvedena sta bili sinteza in analiza podatkov. Upoštevane so bile smernice PRISMA.

Title:Religion in relation to mental health of older people
Abstract:Introduction: Population is getting older every year. A lot of elderly uses their religious beliefs to cope with stressful events, it gives them meaning in life. Faith positively influences individuals’ social function; it helps them cope with various mental issues (depression). The purpose of this research is to find out the influence of religion on mental health of older people. Methods: We reviewed scientific literature, which we gathered from foreign databases: MEDLINE, PubMed, Wiley Online Library, Web of Science, ScienceDirect and SAGE. We performed synthesis and analysis of collected literature. We followed the PRISMA guidelines. We used the Joanna Briggs Institute evaluation tool for critical analysis. Results: We have included seven articles in the final research. We have developed two main categories (influence of religion on mental health and religious activities that influence mental health) and five subcategories (positive influences on mental health, negative influences on mental health, performing religious intervention, prayer, forgiveness). Discussion and conclusion: We found out that religion influences mental health in both, positive and negative manner. An individual can feel relieved, at peace and it can better their social function. But their mental health can worsen and they can refuse to see professional treatment.
