V teoretičnem delu je opredeljen pomen poučevanja naravoslovja in tehnike v osnovni šoli, sledi analiza učnega načrta naravoslovja in tehnike v četrtem razredu s stališča odpadkov.

Title:Knowledge of school waste disposal routes in 4th grade pupils in celje region
Abstract:This master's thesis titled “Understanding the Path of School Waste among Primary School 4th Graders in the Celje Region” consists of two parts - theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part defines the importance of teaching natural science and technology in primary schools, and is followed by an analysis of the 4th grade natural science and technology curriculum in connection with the topic of waste. Experiential learning and the importance of practical exercises in lessons are also examined. Furthermore, a geographical outline of the Celje region and a description of the Celje Regional Waste Management Centre (RCERO) are given. In the empirical part, we present research findings regarding the familiarity of students with RCERO and its work. Two hundred and sixty-two fourth graders from rural and urban primary schools in the Celje region took part in this research that was carried out in the 2021/2022 school year. Based on the obtained results, we were able to determine that students have a poor knowledge of the operations of RCERO, however, they are well acquainted with waste separation and the reasons for it. It is worrying that many of the surveyed students do not know the biological waste disposal steps and the benefits of burning waste in an incinerator. On the other hand, we found it encouraging that almost all students separate waste both at home and at school. Another positive conclusion was that the majority of students believe that the bins for separating waste in schools are well marked and they understand that waste in schools is separated for easier further processing.
