Abstract:Med romantičnimi partnerji lahko obravnavamo dve vrsti moči.

Title:Types of power in a partnership: their distribution between partners and the correlation with relationship satisfaction
Abstract:Between romantic partners, two types of power can be considered. The first is positional power, which refers to how many resources someone can dispose of and what place they occupy on the social scale. The second is personal power, which includes the individual's perception of how much he or she can influence the behaviour and thinking of their partner and how much he or she is respected and listened to in the relationship. In our research, where 36 couples participated, we wanted to find out how positional and personal power is distributed between genders in different partner areas and which type of power contributes more significantly to the assessment of satisfaction with the relationship. It has been shown that, on average, men receive more positional power than women. On the other hand, no difference in experiencing personal power was shown between men and women when investing money and in time management (e.g. planning the future and finances). However, on average, when managing resources such as emotions and trust is essential (e.g. the area of problem-solving and parenting), women experience more personal power than men. Aspects of power contribute more significantly to men's relationship satisfaction than women's, but for both genders, experiencing personal power is a stronger predictor of relationship satisfaction than positional power. Our findings, therefore, indicate that the personal experience of power in a relationship plays a significant role in assessing the quality of a relationship and that positional power is no longer as crucial as it was in the past. Attention was also drawn to the importance of studying different partner areas, which is still a relatively unexplored aspect in the literature on the study of power.
