Title:Familiarity with the history of judo among slovenian judokas
Abstract:Judo is a martial art that originated in Japan but is spread over five continents and more than 200 countries. According to the International Judo Federation, between 8 and 9 million people practice the sport. Judo was founded in 1882, and its founder was Jigoro Kano. In the beginning, judo was designed as a self-defense skill and an educational system to develop physical, moral, and intellectual abilities. It should be taught in three forms: as randori, as cate, and as mondo. Women have also been involved in it from the beginning, but only to a limited extent. The history of judo is an important part of the sport itself, and the tradition, which should be acquired by every judoka. Knowledge of historical achievements and events that led to judo as we know it today, is a basis for growth and further development of this sport. The thesis will consist of a presentation on judo, followed by a presentation of Jigor Kano, the beginnings of judo, the first competitions and refereeing rules, the beginning and development of judo in Slovenia, the inclusion of women and persons with special needs in judo, and a lesser-known form of judo - kata will be presented. In the end, the most important judokas and holders of the highest belts in Slovenia and the world will be presented. In the empirical part, a questionnaire survey and interpretation of the results will be carried out.
